A letter from the bursarAlec MorettiI have been looking at the Bursar's Letter Books for 1860-80 at Trinity College, Cambridge and these contain copies of letters written by the Bursar to the Vicar of Wymeswold, the Rev W Walker, and Mr William Hallam, who seems to have collected rents for the College. Most of the letters are business-like but in one the Bursar is clearly upset. The Vicar had applied to Trinity in 1877 for financial help in putting gas lights in the Church. The College agreed to give him £10, but must have been slow in sending the money. The Vicar must have written reminding them of their promise but the Bursar felt that the Vicar's letter had been 'needlessly impatient' and had a 'stand and deliver' manner about it.
