Jonathan Wilshere

Jonathan Edward Owen Wilshere was born in Kirby Muxloe (Leicestershire) and went to school at Rugby. His early career was in insurance (he was elected a Fellow of the Charted Institute of Insurance in 1960) but, in 1970, he took over Chamberlain Music's shop in Leicester.

About the same time he formed Leicester Research Services and, by 1974, was a founder member of the Leicestershire and Rutland Family History Society. His widespread interests led him to become the Leicester Mercury's daily weather correspondent for many years and, as a keen supporter of Leicestershire County Cricket Club, to provide the statistics for the club's year books.

As the list of booklets in this catalogue reveals, Jonathan Wilshere was a tireless researcher and publisher on local history.

He died suddenly on 17th September 1995 at the age of 59. By agreement with his widow, Heart of Albion Press took over remaining stocks of his publications and became their sole distributor.

Booklets by Jonathan Wilshere currently available from Heart of Albion Press:

Jonathan's son, Andrew, has created PDFs of most of his father's booklets. These can be downloaded for free from http://www.andrewwilshere.com/jeow/
