Recumbent priest

Freestone

13th century

Under an Early English arch in the south wall, near a piscina, is an effigy of a tonsured priest, with remarkably large ears, depicted in mass vestments with his feet on a, now, headless animal.

The left side is cut straight down to the waist leading one to suspect that at one time the effigy was in a more confined position than it is now.
