Coffin lid

Freestone

13th century

In the south aisle is coped coffin lid with the head and praying hands of the deceased in a sunken pointed-trefoiled recess. The feet, now missing, stick out as if the coped surface were a large shield. By the feet these are signs that there was once a canopy over the effigy.
