Long Clawson: St Remigius |
|
![]() Now much weathered this effigy would have been very fine when it was first built. Bozon is depicted wearing a complete suit of mail and surcoat, with finely executed folds, held at the waist by a narrow belt. There is a sword by his side and his hands are in the attitude of prayer. The head rests on double lozenge-shaped cushions while a dog supports the feet. There are holes in various parts of the effigy that may have once held pegs that supported the helmet and shield, which Nichols tells us, was charged with three bird bolts. ![]() |
