Recumbent priest

Freestone

14th century

Set under an ogee headed arch, with what looks like a head set into the right side, the tonsured head of this mutilated effigy rests on a double cushion. The face, devoid of features, has the nose broken off - the hands are also badly damaged and the legs and feet are missing. A liturgical towel is draped round the left arm.
