Recumbent knight

Freestone

13th Century

The weathered and worn condition of this unidentified effigy is due to the fact that it once lay outside. The knight, whose legs have disappeared, is depicted wearing a surcoat and holding a heart in his hands. His sword and open helmet lie by his side while the head reclines on a cushion.
